Foot care in the comfort of your own home
Foot care in the comfort of your own home
I’m Sarah, owner of Moorbank Podiatry. I graduated from Huddersfield University back in 2010 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry. Since then, I have worked as a podiatrist in both private practice and the NHS and now provide mobile foot care services.
I am registered with the HCPC and a member of the Royal College of Podiatry.
Podiatrists are allied healthcare professionals who specialise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the foot and lower limb. We help to keep the population mobile and active and prevent foot conditions from deteriorating.
I cover most areas of Bradford and Halifax and will visit you in your own home. Podiatry/chiropody services include nail cutting, corn and callus removal, diabetic foot assessments, advice regarding treatment options for a wide variety of foot health conditions, including, but not limited to, fungal nails/skin, in growing toenails, verrucae, heel pain and bunions.
On my initial visit, I will ask you some questions about your medical history and any concerns you have with your feet. A foot health assessment will be carried out and any treatment required will be undertaken. Should you require any follow up treatment, this will be advised accordingly.
A routine podiatry treatment usually involves the provision of nail care, management of hard skin and corns, and application of foot cream with a soothing foot rub.
Around 1 in 10 people in the UK have a verruca at any one time, so they are pretty common. At your visit, we can discuss the best course of action in managing the verruca(s). I now offer a treatment called Verrutop, which is for most patients, a painless application of a solution directly onto the verruca. No treatment is 100% guaranteed, but Verrutop has shown high effectiveness and can be used on children aged 6 years and above.
Having diabetes can make you more prone to developing complications with your feet. A thorough foot and footwear assessment, including checking the pulses and sensation in your feet can screen for any potential risks and advice given to try prevent complications from occuring.
Foot pain affects between 13-36% of the population. It can reduce quality of life, impair balance, increase the risk of falls and lead to time off work. During your consultation, your feet and lower limbs will be assessed while you are sitting, standing and walking, and a management plan put into place. It would be helpful to wear shorts if possible, or loose fitting trousers which can be rolled up above the knee.
